I actually went up to Hamza Yusuf and asked him if he said this. He said, "No I didn't. I never said that".

A lie. An arrogant lie from a gustakh.

This is kufr

I agree the statements are not appropriate, but who are you to state it is kufr? are you the resident mufti? or the mufti of sunniport?

Specifically, I asked him if he made this comment that brother Wadood posted. He said "no, I never said that"

And who are you to defend it? Are you their lawyer?

Do you understand English? If so, I suggest you read what I wrote again.

Assalam alaykum bro Khadim786,

Bro, perhaps we misunderstood each other. I don't think anyone here is doing takfir of HY. We just established however that such comments are kufr as NO one refutes Rasulallah salallahu alayhi wa salim (wa iyadhbilllah, may Allah protect us from such comments).

Inshallah, I hope that clears it up. Assalam alaykum

wassalam

I understand all that, but given the collective works of Hamza Yusuf, is it appropriate to call him a gustakh when:

1. it could have simply been the wrong choice of words at the wrong time, and given all his other talks, are we exercising ihsan and husn al-dhann of the ulema by stating this is kufr?

2. as with other videos of respected Shaykhs and supposed inappropriate statements made in video recordings, are we permitted to use a youtube video as proof of anything?

I asked him "Some people are saying that you said Rasullallah salallahu alayhi wa salim was refuted by A`isha radhiyallahu anhu? I request that you clarify"

He said "I never said this"
