From Mufti Darwish's fatwa:
"To aid [in any manner] the individual who has fallen into disbelief, is also disbelief." Is that correct? Shouldn't it say "To aid the individual who has fallen into disbelief, in is disbelief, is also disbelief" For example, the original sentence would exclude removing disbelievers from oppression; or protecting disbelievers who are under treaty with Muslims, or under their protection through jizya, and so many other examples. Please clarify. |

What is meant by its defense is the defense of the kufr. This is clear from the fatwa.
As Mark Hanson has defended the kufr of Dante. Also the case of disbelief in this case is blasphemy which does away with protection. So the disbelief here is specific as is clear from the context of the fatwa. |
