My father, who is a pathologist himself, refused to accept the above, point-blank. He argues that hundreds of clinics around the world are dealing with cases of AIDS almost on a daily basis and the link between HIV and AIDS is established beyond any iota of doubt. AIDS may be present without HIV but not vice-versa. He strongly disagrees with: "HIV is a harmless virus".
