Aicp Uk
[2012-02-21 07:02 am - ahlus-sunnah] Assalamualaykum Does anyone know anything about the AICP in Birmingham and throughout the Uk ???

[2012-02-20 04:02 am - AbdalQadir] http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17068044

an interesting read for all the budding iMujtahid's and eMuftis out there!

some interesting points:

Quote:
The results will also be personalised, according to what you've searched for previously and where you're based.

so "they" are keeping a tab on what i'm doing online!

Quote:
In 1999, researchers tried to assess exactly how much of the web was to be found in the indexes of major search engines - about 16%, they concluded, in a paper published in Nature.

And although search engines have developed a great deal since then, the internet has also been growing very rapidly, and it's likely that search engines still only cover a relatively small section of the information that is out there. And only ever will.

so even if the internet is your source of knowledge, chances are you won't get to more than a set percentage of sites using search engines!

Quote:
"Essentially all search engines start with a few big websites and then they try to find new websites, mainly by following the links on existing websites. So if you've got a fairly new website that no-one links to yet, the chances are Google won't know about you."

that explains how keller, mark hanson, muftari faraz rabbani, muftari ibn adam al-kawthari et al gained in popularity.

for those idiots whose lives revolve around the internet, all the "Sunni" scholars in the world are apparently confined to the 20-30 odd names that google spits out!

moon landing
[2009-07-16 03:07 pm - abu Hasan] i have been a moon-landing skeptic for a long time. not that i think that it is impossible, but there are many unanswered questions.

sure, the guy out there on badastronomy ridicules and shouts out the skeptics but still, i am not one to accept something just because 'experts' do. experts can be wrong.

this thing reinforces the suspicion:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090716/...sci_moon_video

---
sounds like saddam and his wmd's all over again. nasa apparently had shortage of tapes, so they 'reused' many tapes including the not-so-important 'moon landing' tapes.

just like nobody has been there for 40 years after the so-called 'moon landing'. nasa might have computers and technology far more advanced and powerful than what was available 40 years ago, but why was another attempt never made?

Qadi Ibn Al-'Arabi al-Maliki on the Mujassima
[2012-02-21 02:02 pm - faqir] We have made it clear in more than one place that those who conspire against Islam are many and those who are negligent towards it are many, while its friends who are preoccupied with it are few. Those who conspire against it include:

Qadi Abu Bakr ibn Al-'Arabi on the Mujassima
Qadi Abu Bakr Ibn Al-'Arabi al-Maliki

Qadi al-Shawkani on Tafwid and Ta'wil
[2012-02-21 02:02 pm - faqir] Qadi al-Shawkani who is very popular with the pseudo-salafis said

Section two: regarding that to which interpretation applies.

It is two categories.

One: most of the branch subsidiary matters [furu‘] – and there is no disagreement regarding that.

Two: the fundamentals, such as doctrine and theological matters and the attributes of the Creator, the Exalted and Sublime. They [the scholars] have differed regarding this and have taken three separate positions:

1- That there is no room for figurative interpretation of them, rather [it is posited], they should be relayed according to their outward meanings and nothing of them should be interpreted. This is the view of the anthropomorphists.

2- That they do have an interpretation, however we are to refrain from that, while at the same time not believing in any resemblance or outright denial. [According to this view] we are to say: 'None know its interpretation except Allah'. Ibn Burhān said: “This is the view of the Salaf”.

3- That they are interpreted.
Ibn Burhān said: “The first position of these three is false, and the other two positions are recorded from the Companions. This third position was recorded from ‘Alī, Ibn Mas‘ūd, Ibn ‘Abbās, and Umm Salama”.

Buddhists, Disbelievers and Condemnation to Hell
[2012-02-17 04:02 pm - kattarsunni] What is the Sunni position on the following statement?:

The most definitive verse of this surah in this regard distinguishes between six categories of religious belief, and Muslim exegetes have traditionally placed all religions and sects into one of these six: "As for the Jews, the Sabians, the Christians, the Magians, and the Polytheists, God will decide among them on the day of resurresction" (22:17). The weighty import of this verse is that it is theologically prohibited for us to condemn any individual, irrespective of his or her faith, to damnation or punishment in the afterlife because ultimate judgement belongs to God alone. Many hadith and statements of the companions of the Prophet sallAllahu alayhiwasallam also affirm this fundamental article of faith.

Nuh Kellers audio on imkan alkidhb
[2010-01-19 07:01 pm - kattarsunni2] Salam, we received this audio recently. It is a response from Nuh Ha Mim Keller to a question posed by one of his former murids which has been copied below:

[Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I am quoting from your article 'iman, kufr and takfir':-

"Is it possible for Allah to lie? ...this is not intrinsically impossible, but only contingently impossible (mustahil ‘aradi)" further, you go on to say that this is not "a genuine ‘aqida issue, in the sense of being a central tenet of faith that no one can disagree about and remain a believer."

You are implying that it is permissible for one to believe that it is possible for Allah to tell a lie, but he will not do so since he has stated as such in the Qur'an. Surely, even if it was contingently possible for Allah to speak an untruth, but he decided not to do so, the truth of the Qur'an itself would be questionable.

Please comment.]

Konkani Muslims
[2012-02-14 02:02 pm - Unbeknown]
Quote:
Muslims of the Konkan and Malabar coasts represent the oldest Islamic settlements in India. The most obvious characteristic of these Muslims is the common origin as maritime mercantile communities. In addition to their status as the vanguards of Islam in India, they are especially interesting to students of Islam in South Asia, because they evolved in areas of continuing upper caste Hindu political and social dominance. Muslims first arrived in the Konkan in 699, according to Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, less than 70 years after the death of Prophet Muhammad in circa 632. In other words some Muslims were already present in India a decade before the invasion of Sindh by Muhammad ibn Qasim in 711. Thus Konkani Muslims, along with the Moplahs are the oldest Muslim communities in India. In the 1300 years of their existence, they have been acutely conscious of being Muslim as well as being perceived as such by others. Throughout their long history, the Konkani Muslims have overcome the triple challenges of surviving the assimilative power of syncretistic Hinduism, the crusading zeal of the Portuguese Backed by their armed invasions in the sixteenth century, and the subsequent challenge posed by westernization as represented by the British colonial power. Surviving as a distinct Muslim community is no small achievement particularly when seen in the light of the fact there were no Muslim political powers to protect them when they first landed, nor when the power of Muslim sultanates waned in the eighteenth century. The story of the Konkani Muslims despite its antiquity and success is a mystery to most outsiders. Among the Konkani Muslims, the community’s history is not known in a clear, systematic manner either.

Sadly, such a glorious and active community of muslims is also the most heavily influenced by wahabism. I can count my sunni kin on my fingers (one hand suffices!).

Request for a translation of a poem by ala hazrat
[2011-11-20 12:11 pm - Taalib-e-Ilm] Can one of the brothers please translate a naat from hadayiq-e-bakshish? It seems like an eternity since someone translated a naat. Maybe brother abu hasan or brother NJ can translate one? It would be appreciated by everyone in this forum, well, certainly all the Sunnis on this forum. I'm not going to speak on their behalf cause frankly, I don't understand how their brain or their thought processes work.

"If" by Rudyard Kipling (let's start a thread of favourite English language poems)
[2012-02-18 06:02 am - naqshbandijamaati] One of the great, inspirational, poems (in any language): "If" by Kipling.
Here it is wonderfully recited in a (now-almost vanished) British voice:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Qtn...eature=related

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

---

I think this poem also celebrates very noble ethical and moral
traits which are very Islamic. Generally, I think the traditional British
reserve and attitude is actually quite close to the Muslim one. Anyway, even if you disagree, it is a great poem.

India integrity
[2012-02-21 07:02 am - Wadood] In this case India has shown great integrity and concern for its common citizens. i wish Muslim countries show as such in the face of their own adversities no matter how different they are.

Upholding Kerala's decision, even in the case of Coca Cola's excesses in Kerala, India has shown great integrity.

it gives a great sense of pride to see this. i wanted to share this story because of its worth

i hope india holds on to its integrity and brings those italians to justice. i hope india does not back up

New al-Nabahani book: On the Means of Beholding the Prophet in a Dream [alayhi salam]
[2012-02-20 09:02 am - ihsanica media]
Title: ON THE MEANS OF BEHOLDING THE PROPHET IN A DREAM [MAY THE PEACE AND BLESSINGS OF ALLAH BE UPON HIM]
Author: Imam Yusuf b. Isma'il al-Nabahani
Format: Paperback
Edition:2012
Price: ZAR 70.00

[IMG]http://www.ihsanica.com//images/btn_moreDetails.png[/IMG]

NEWS UPDATE: THIS WONDERFUL BOOK IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Description:
SLEEP THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (MAY ALLAH BLESS HIM AND GRANT HIM PEACE) tells us, is the twin brother of death. Yet, he informs us that in the last days, a believers dream will hardly prove false,” and that “good dreams are the believer’s early glad tidings in this life.” What glad tiding then, is better than beholding in one’s dream the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?

This unique collection, taken from Imam Yusuf al-Nabahani’s monumental Sa‘adat al-darayn fi al-salat ‘ala Sayyid al-kawnayn (Felicity in the Two Abodes Through Prayers upon the Master of the Two Realms – may Allah bless him and grant him peace), details forty tried and true methods for seeing the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in a dream. Gleaned from the works of the early and later spiritual masters, this collection is a veritable treasury of Gnostic expressions of prophetic love and longing. Each supplication is presented in its original Arabic along with its translation and transliteration.

Imam Yusuf b. Isma‘il al-Nabahani (1265–1350 AH), hadith scholar, Sufi, jurist, judge, and biographer, was born in Beirut, Lebanon. A prolific author, al-Nabahani left behind a staggering collection of works in hadith, fiqh, theology, and most famously, poetry and prose in praise of our master Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Al-Nabahani was a paragon of prophetic love (‘ishq) and his works continue to exercise a profound influence on popular Muslim spirituality.
Whoever beholds the Chosen One (al-Mustafa) in a dream shall receive a good end at death (Husn al-khatima); he shall gain the Prophet’s (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) Intercession and win unto Paradise; Allah will forgive him and his parents (if they were Muslims); it will be as if he completed the Quran twelve times; the pangs of death will be made easy for him to bear; the torment of the grave shall be removed from him; he will enjoy security from the terrors of the Day of Standing; and with Allah’s subtle kindness and generosity, all of his needs in this life and the Next will be fulfilled.

Meelad Inside Hindu Temple
[2012-02-16 10:02 am - Aqib Qadri] Recently, the MQI (Muslim Qush International), hosted a "meelad" ceremony INSIDE a HINDU temple in Lahore. Proudly relayed on TV, here are the video clips posted by MQI zealots on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lau4U6GT5JM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjPyBaAuewo

Next, MQI will invite Hindus to the mosque to do bhajan, and prostration to Shiva. Or maybe the "meelad' of krishna kanhaiyya (who according to their own texts was a thief, and an adulterer).

Furthermore, it is disgusting to see Gimbade Khizra on one side of the poster, and "Omm" written on the other. A clear and un-bridled insolence (tauheen) shown to one of the most important symbols of Islam. Astaghferullah. Will any MQI member prove that this blatant disrespect to Meelad of the Holy Prophet and to that of the Green Dome is not KUFR?

Bin Baaz's Disgusting Fatwa
[2012-02-20 01:02 pm - kaydani1] I have been asked to place the ridiculous fatwa of Bin Baaz on the web which states that ibn AbdulWahab day should be celebrated. (AND THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY THAT THE MAWLID IS NOT ALLOWED)

P.S. The fatwa is in Arabic. I would request any of the brothers on this forum which are on other forums to try and upload this there too. Unfortunately, I had the time to upload onto this forum so I have. Please do try to upload it onto forums like sunnaforum if it has not been done yet already.
